Transfer Partners Guide
Complete guide to Chase, American Express, Capital One and Citi transfer partners and how to use them.
My son is a huge history buff and wanted to visit the National WW2 Museum. We have been to NOLA before and loved it, so we were excited to return.
Flights / Transportation: Roundtrip MCI to Louis Armstrong International using my husband’s and Southwest Companion Pass and points. The cost for the 4 of us to fly was $45 + points. Read Earn the Southwest Companion Pass Over and Over to learn how to maximize this strategy.
Stay: I booked Hyatt Place New Orleans Downtown for 12,000 Hyatt points per night. I redeemed points from my Chase Business Ink Cash $0 annual fee card for this stay. This was made possible since I hold the Chase Sapphire Card that gives me access to 14 incredible transfer partners, including Hyatt.
The Hyatt Place New Orleans Downtown is very walkable to all the New Orleans sites. If you are going to a game or show at the Superdome or Smoothie King Center, it’s right next to it. You will also have access to the attached Hyatt Regency pool.
Fun: We visited New Orleans this time to visit the National World War 2 Museum. It was massive and really more than I expected. While in New Orleans, we shopped and dined on Magazine Street, my favorite NOLA area.
The Garden District has so many beautiful buildings, homes, and history. We did not rent a car for this trip, and it was raining pretty well one day, so we did opt for a hop on – hop off bus tour. It was really a great experience. I know these types of tours are not everyone’s cup of tea, and we don’t always do them, but this allowed us to explore some different areas and not have to hire an Uber or hoof it all over in the rain.
Eat / Drink: Eating in New Orleans should be considered a sport! So many delicious joints and so little time. After the WW2 Museum, we walked a few blocks over to Sidecar Patio and Oyster Bar. We ended up hanging out there for a couple of hours.
Our favorites include Willa Jean, Mahoney’s Po Boys, and Gris Gris. We tend to stay closer to the Garden District and Magazine Street rather than Bourbon Street. Of course, who can go to New Orleans and have a beignet? We like Cafe Beignet and The Vintage.
If you are craving donuts, a Hurt’s Donut shop is next to Hyatt Place.
Final thought: I have found that people either love or hate New Orleans. I, for sure, am on the love side. I love the history, the old buildings and streets, the people, and the food!

I was researching index funds and happened upon the points and miles community through creators who also post about budgets, financial independence, and investing.
Points and miles allowed those people to travel and work toward financial independence simultaneously.
Thank goodness I got started when I did. The past almost two years of travel have been something we will never forget.
Earning points and miles through credit cards is only a good choice if you have the financial discipline to use them, like cash/debit cards.
Since we started traveling with points and miles, we have had more money going into our investment and savings accounts than ever.
