Transfer Partners Guide
Complete guide to Chase, American Express, Capital One and Citi transfer partners and how to use them.
You have probably heard of Airbnb and VRBO, but have you heard of Vacasa?
Vacasa vacation rentals offer a fantastic selection of homes and apartments for travelers to stay in. From cozy cabins in the mountains to beachside bungalows and even luxury villas, Vacasa has something for everyone.
Thanks to transfer partners, there are three ways to earn points to pay for a Vacasa Rental.
Capital One Venture Miles transferred to Wyndham, allowing you to book Vacasa Rentals.
Citi ThankYou points transferred to Wyndham, allowing you to book Vacasa Rentals.
You can also earn Wyndham points through Wyndham cards.
If you plan to open a card to earn points, visit my best offers page or shoot me a DM. I appreciate you using my affiliate links. It is a free way for you to support my small business. Thank you!
Where are Vacasa rentals located?
Vacasa is currently all over the US, minus just a few states including Hawaii and Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Belize, and Costa Rica.
Vacasa rentals can be booked for 15,000 Wyndham points per bedroom per night. This can be an excellent value for families since hallway bunks and loft rooms don’t count as additional bedrooms.
The number of points needed for your stay depends on the average cost per bedroom per night, including any applicable fees:
For stays up to $250 per bedroom per night: 15,000 points per bedroom, per night.
For stays between $250.01 and $500 per bedroom per night: 30,000 points per bedroom, per night.
For stays exceeding $500 per bedroom per night: Wyndham points cannot be used for these bookings.
In most cases, no additional taxes or fees are required. However, certain charges, such as pet or resort fees, may apply in specific situations.
How I Book a Vacasa Rental with Wyndham Points
1. Search for a Rental Start by browsing the Vacasa Rentals website and filter for properties available to book with Wyndham points.
To help narrow down the options, I set the filter to show only 1-bedroom rentals with a maximum occupancy of four (since that’s the size of my family). This makes it easier to find properties that require 15,000 points per night.
2. Select Your Property Once you’ve found a rental that fits your desired dates and meets your point requirements, you’re ready to move forward with the booking.
This link will automatically filter the results to show only 1-bedroom properties. If you need a larger unit, adjust the filter, but be aware that 2-bedroom rentals will require more points (twice the points of a 1-bedroom).
4. Check the Cash Rate Review the properties and their cash prices for your selected dates on the Vacasa website.
Make sure the average cost per bedroom (including taxes and fees) is under $500 per night. This is crucial because bookings with an average price above this amount cannot be made with Wyndham points.
5. Call to Book Once you’ve found the perfect rental, call 1-800-441-1034 to complete your booking. They no longer accept bookings via email.
6. Set a Reminder to Cancel if Needed Set a reminder on your calendar at least 31 days before your stay. This gives you enough time to cancel your booking if needed, as cancellations within 30 days of your stay are non-refundable.
Pro tips! I always call and ensure the property is available BEFORE transferring Citi or Capital One points to Wyndham because I can’t transfer them back to Capital One or Citi once I transfer them!
Always read the past tenant reviews just like you would with any other rental company.
If you hold a Wyndham Earner card, you’ll receive a 10% discount on all award stays, including bookings for Vacasa Vacation Rentals. With this card, the required points are reduced to either 13,500 or 27,000 points per bedroom per night, depending on the cost.
If you need more Wyndham points, here are two great ways to earn and grab them at a discount.
Wyndham often runs promotions for purchasing points that range from 40%-50% off. This is a great way to receive a discount on your rental. When purchasing points, you always want to do the math for a specific rental to ensure the purchase price of points is less than the cash rate.
Final thought: Learning how to save on vacation rentals opens up a world of opportunity with points and miles. Take advantage of these opportunities to broaden your travel and experiences.
Here are cards that earn points for Vacasa Rentals.

I was researching index funds and happened upon the points and miles community through creators who also post about budgets, financial independence, and investing.
Points and miles allowed those people to travel and work toward financial independence simultaneously.
Thank goodness I got started when I did. The past almost two years of travel have been something we will never forget.
Earning points and miles through credit cards is only a good choice if you have the financial discipline to use them, like cash/debit cards.
Since we started traveling with points and miles, we have had more money going into our investment and savings accounts than ever.
