Transfer Partners Guide
Complete guide to Chase, American Express, Capital One and Citi transfer partners and how to use them.
This is part of a 10-day semi-road trip in Washington. My mom, two kids, and I flew into Seattle.
We stayed just outside Mt. Rainier National Park, in Seattle, and Olympic National Park.
This will cover the Olympic National Park portion.
Flights / Transportation: Roundtrip MCI to Seattle-Tacoma International using our Southwest Companion Passes and points. The cost for the 4 of us to fly was just under $45. Read Earn the Southwest Companion Pass on Repeat for all the details on taking advantage of one of my favorite travel strategies.
I used Chase Ultimate Rewards to pay for a rental car. Grab my rental car on points freebie here. I always use my Chase Sapphire Preferred when booking a rental car with points or cash since it has fantastic rental car coverage. This brought the cost of my rental car to $0.
Stay: We stayed at Kalaloch Lodge at Olympic National Park for $300 per night. On a bluff, this remote, oceanfront hotel is the only coastal lodge along this 73-mile stretch of Olympic National Park owned by the National Parks Service.
Fun:You could stay at Kalaloch Lodge, never get in your car, and have plenty to do. If you’re into hiking, here are the ones we did and really enjoyed. Drive to the Hoh Rainforest Visitor Center and hike. Parking is very limited, so go as early as possible. On our way into Kalaloch, we hiked at Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center. It was beautiful, but really everywhere in Olympic National Park is beautiful.
Sol Duc Falls, Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls Trail, and Hole in the Wall Trail are great options.
While you’re at Kalaloch Lodge, watch for whales off the Kalaloch Lodge cliff overlooking the Pacific. You can play on the beach or in the creek. They keep an outdoor tote full of sand toys for guests to use. The tide pools near Kalaloch and the surrounding areas are some of the best you’ll find anywhere! The Lodge also has complimentary yard games like frisbee golf and tether ball. I could go on and on and on!
Eat:On the way into Kalaloch from the Hurricane Ridge area, we passed through Forks, Washington. Yes, Forks, where The Twilight series was filmed. We stopped and grabbed some burgers at Sully’s Drive Inn.
The Creekside Restaurant is located at Kalaloch Lodge. We ate lunch on the deck one day.
We stayed in a cabin that had a small kitchen and cooked most of our meals there. A cute, super small convenience/grocery store on the property has a coffee bar and ice cream counter.
Final thought: I’ve always wanted to visit the Pacific Northwest, and it totally lived up to the hype. It is a beauty! It is stunning, from the peaks to the ocean to the rainforest!

I was researching index funds and happened upon the points and miles community through creators who also post about budgets, financial independence, and investing.
Points and miles allowed those people to travel and work toward financial independence simultaneously.
Thank goodness I got started when I did. The past almost two years of travel have been something we will never forget.
Earning points and miles through credit cards is only a good choice if you have the financial discipline to use them, like cash/debit cards.
Since we started traveling with points and miles, we have had more money going into our investment and savings accounts than ever.
