Free night certificates are part of a lucrative points and miles strategy.
When it comes to Hyatt, there are five ways to earn free night certificates.
1) Hold the Chase World of Hyatt personal card. Upon card renewal, you receive a free category 1-4 night every year. The annual fee is $95.
2) Spend $15,000 on the Chase World of Hyatt personal card in a calendar year and earn a category 1-4 free night certificate. This is an opportunity to maximize spend when you are not working on a new credit card minimum spend, especially since you can earn 2 points per dollar at restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, airlines, local transit, fitness clubs, and gym memberships.
3) Stay 30 nights at Hyatt and receive a category 1-4 free night certificate.
4) Stay 60 qualifying nights with Hyatt and receive a Free Night (Category 1-7) certificate. If you earn this certificate, be sure to maximize it! The more expensive the stay, the better!
5) Brand Explorer or more casually known as “Hyatt Bingo,” exists to lure Hyatt enthusiasts into stretching their wings and experiencing all of the different brands Hyatt has under its growing umbrella. This allows you to earn a Category 1-4 free night award for every five Hyatt brands you stay at.
You do not have to hold a specific credit card to participate in this challenge.
Any qualifying stays attached to your World of Hyatt account counts, including paid and award nights. Nights booked through 3rd party booking sites do not count.
Hyatt currently has 26 different brands and is acquiring one more, Mr. and Mrs. Smith properties!
You’ll automatically be issued a Category 1-4 free night certificate when you “bingo” at five different brands.
Free Night Certificate Guidelines
Hyatt anniversary night certificates earned from holding the Chase World of Hyatt credit card, the certificate earned after spending $15,000 on the card, and from Hyatt Brand Explorer (Bingo) are valid for 12 months, and the stay must be completed by the certificate’s expiration date.
Certificates earned from Hyatt Milestone Awards for staying 30 and 60 nights expire 180 days after issue.
Once you have earned a free night certificate, Hyatt will email you at the email attached to your World of Hyatt loyalty account, but it will also show up in your World of Hyatt account under the “My Awards” tab.
To redeem certificates, search for a hotel as you normally would with the destination, dates, etc., and click “Use Points.” then book your stay!
Helpful Tool:
Hyatt has a site that lists all properties by region and hotel category. This can be helpful when you are searching for properties to utilize your free night certificate. Check it out here.

Final thoughts:
When beginning to learn about points and miles, paying for annual fees can sometimes be a point of resistance for individuals, I know it was for me. The more you and I learn about leveraging credit cards with annual fees to maximize their benefits, the more you can see past the one-time fee and look at the much wider picture of continued benefits.
Earning points for Hyatt stays can be earned by spending on your World of Hyatt credit cards, both personal and business, but you can also take advantage of Chase and Bilt as transfer partners. This is how I personally earn most of the points I use for Hyatt stays.

I was researching index funds and happened upon the points and miles community through creators who also post about budgets, financial independence, and investing.
Points and miles allowed those people to travel and work toward financial independence simultaneously.
Thank goodness I got started when I did. The past almost two years of travel have been something we will never forget.
Earning points and miles through credit cards is only a good choice if you have the financial discipline to use them, like cash/debit cards.
Since we started traveling with points and miles, we have had more money going into our investment and savings accounts than ever.
